Learn How to Take Your DNA Test

Hello, and welcome! In this video, we’ll guide you through the simple process of using your home DNA paternity test kit for an AssureDNA Peace of Mind Test. Whether you're looking for an affordable and convenient way to confirm paternity or seeking answers, this step-by-step tutorial will ensure you collect your DNA samples correctly for accurate results.

Many people choose an AssureDNA test to gain clarity about biological relationships in a non-legal setting. Unlike a legal DNA test, such as those provided by AttoLife, which is admissible in court and involves stricter chain-of-custody protocols, the AssureDNA paternity DNA kit is designed purely for personal knowledge. It offers a simple, private, and cost-effective solution you can complete from the comfort of your home.

Let’s get started with your paternity test kit!

Step 1: Prepare Your DNA Collection Kit

Before you begin, make sure your paternity test kit includes:

  • Sterile swabs (2 swabs per individual).

  • Sample envelopes (labeled with terms like “Mother,” “Father,” and “Child”).

  • Consent forms.

  • Prepaid return packaging.

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to prevent contamination.
Important Note: Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes before starting your home DNA paternity test.

Step 2: Collect Samples

Person 1:

  1. Remove a sterile swab from its packaging without touching the tip.

  2. Open your mouth wide and rub the swab firmly on the inside of one cheek for 30 seconds. Rotate the swab to collect enough cells.

  3. Place the swab into the envelope labeled for Person 1.

  4. Repeat the process using the second swab on the other cheek and place it in the same envelope.

Person 2:

  1. Follow the same steps using a new sterile swab.

  2. Rub the swab on one cheek for 30 seconds and repeat with a second swab on the other cheek.

  3. Place both swabs into the envelope labeled for Person 2 (“Mother,” “Father,” or “Child”).

Person 3 (if applicable):

  1. Repeat the swabbing process for both cheeks.

  2. Place the swabs in the relevant labeled envelope.

Step 3: Seal and Label

  1. Ensure all swabs are securely placed in their respective envelopes.

  2. Seal the envelopes tightly using the glue strip.

  3. Double-check that each envelope is correctly labeled with the individual’s name and relation (e.g., “Father,” “Mother,” or “Child”).

Step 4: Complete Consent Form

  1. Fill out the consent form with the names and details of each person involved in the test.

  2. Sign and date the form to confirm you’ve followed the instructions and consent to the testing.

  3. Place the consent form along with the swab envelopes into the brown return envelope and seal it securely.

Step 5: Packaging and Return

  1. Put the sealed brown envelope into the prepaid white return envelope provided in your home paternity test kit.

  2. Seal the outer packaging securely and mail it back to our laboratory promptly.
